Putting the “Party”
Back into Politics

Our Mission

National races make the news, but grassroots candidates are the ones making real change happen in our communities.  From school board members to state officials, “down ballot” candidates play a vital role in shaping our society and creating a good quality of life for all, yet they get a fraction of the attention paid to bigger races—and even less of the funding. That’s where we come in.

The Party Politic is committed to getting passionate, progressive people into elected positions throughout our communities by raising a funding base to support their campaigns. We also believe that injecting fun into elections helps to keep party members and voters informed about the issues impacting them. Our initiatives and events fundraise for local candidates and allow our supporters to connect with like-minded people who believe a better world is possible—and are ready to put their energy and money where their mouths are.

Our Process

Today’s Citizens / Tomorrow’s Leaders

Using a mix of traditional fundraising tactics and eclectic events, we raise money, awareness, and civic engagement among voters and left-leaning citizens. Our contributions allow candidates to secure professional marketing, pay their staff, and get critical name recognition in crowded fields—often against opponents with corporate-fed bank accounts. Our funding empowers everyday citizens with a drive to improve their communities to take the next step toward public service.

Our Priorities

What We’re Striving For

Education

The candidates we support believe that education can change lives, and they’re ready to fight for our students, teachers, and districts at every turn. From funding universal pre-k to ensuring our public schools have the resources to help every student succeed, our candidates have different approaches but share the same goal: giving Michigan students the best educational opportunities possible.

Environment

We’ve seen what happens when corporations police themselves: PFAS-filled lakes, green ooze running down I-696, and more smog and soot in our air. Environmental regulations improve individual and public health, keep our water clean and lakes fishable, preserve our valuable resources, and fight climate change. For our candidates, environmental protection is a key responsibility of public service and a priority no matter what level of government office they are seeking.

Health

COVID-19 has shown how reliable access to care is just one factor in maintaining our collective health—local governments also determine how well communities manage public health emergencies like pandemics. From offering public health and educational resources to addressing the social determinants of health, our candidates look at the big picture to promote health and well-being in their communities.

Infrastructure

As our communities evolve and grow, so should our infrastructure. Well-maintained roads and bridges, updated water mains, and other improvements impact our quality of life and the ability to attract new employers and residents. Our candidates know that strategic, proactive investment in infrastructure is critical to securing the futures of our cities and towns.

Talent

To win elections and successfully shape policy throughout Michigan, we must get—and keep—candidates, campaign staff, and activists engaged election to election. By making fundraising fun and bringing supporters together at events, we can find and launch new political talent and help people direct their energy (or funds!) toward progressive causes.
